Firnew Farm’s “Reflections”

REFLECTIONS is the 7th Annual Group Art & Photography Show at Woodberry Forest School’s Baker Gallery, September 2 – October 27, with a reception on Saturday, September 7 from 5 – 8 pm.

It is the Firnew Farm Artists’ Circle seventeenth year together. What started as a small group of local artists coming together to paint has become an established and thoughtful group of creative artists crossing all kinds of artistic boundaries*.

From Firnew director, Trish Crowe, “Jon Perry is this year’s featured artist. He was inspired by Antonio Gaudi, also known as God’s Architect and designer of La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Spain. Jon’s paintings of stained-glass windows from La Sagrada Familia represent the four seasons and seemed perfect for this year’s Reflections Exhibition.”

A collaborative effort with the Virginia Master Naturalists will also be on display. The Socrates Project: Poisonous Plants in Virginia, will feature educational information and Firnew artwork inspired by the project.

For more information about Firnew Farm Artists’ Circle, see

*The group includes eight members of CVWG…Trish Crowe, Anne Dean, Sue Linthicum, Carol Pivarnik, Chee Ricketts, Mack Rowe, Sue Stover, and Patricia Williams.

Annual Exhibit Preparations

Are you packing your car, headed to Charlottesville for the upcoming CVWG art exhibit?  Bring your painting that was accepted by our juror either Saturday or Sunday (August 31 or September 1) between the hours of 1 and 4 pm. Come to the back of McGuffey and you can use the elevator to get to the Main floor. The Starnes Classroom will be on the left. All other doors will be closed.

If needed, accepted artists can reach Pam on her cell at 434-981-0666 and at home on 434-831-1864.

And if you are helping on Friday with chairs and ice and water on September 6, remember the Gallery Talk (free and open to the public) begins at 4:30 on the second floor, North end, with  Nancy Stark, our juror and will be followed by a lovely party downstairs at 5:30.

Thank you to everyone who will work to make this a successful event!
