River District Arts, Sperryville

Sperryville show

Spontaneity! Featured Artists June 1 – July 28

I stopped by Sperryville last weekend to see two CVWG members’ show at the River District Arts. Well worth the detour! The show features four watercolorists:

Mary B. Allen – a native of South Carolina. She earned a Masters degree in medical illustration from the Medical College of Georgia and a bachelor of fine arts in studio art from Newcomb College Art School at Tulane University in New Orleans. She is an active member of the Windmore Foundation for the Arts in Culpeper, a member of the Potomac Valley Watercolorists, Virginia Watercolor Society and a studio artist at River District Arts. http://maryballen.net/

Trish Crowe – is founder and inspirational perpetuator of Firnew Farm Artists Circle in Madison County. The group has gathered weekly for nearly a decade to paint, hear speakers and provide constructive critiques of each others work with respectful frivolity.  She received her art education at the prestigious Parsons School of Design in New York.  Prior to her retreat to the idyllic countryside, she had a successful career in illustration and design in Washington, D.C. and London, England. http://www.trishcrowe.blogspot.com/

Carolyn Grosse Gawarcki –  is a signature member of the National Watercolor Society, Knickerbocker Artists, Virginia Watercolor Society, Southern Watercolor Society, Washington Watercolor Association, Baltimore Watercolor Society, Watercolor USA Honor Society, The Art League, and The Potomac Valley Watercolorists, founder and Pres.’74 -’77.  http://www.grosseart.com/

Chee Kludt Ricketts – professional affiliations include Firnew Farm Artists’ Circle, McGuffey Art Center (Charlottesville), Piedmont Council of the Arts, Southern Watercolor Society, Virginia Watercolor Society and Central Virginia Watercolor Guild which she is a past President.  She conducts workshops and teaches classes in addition to an extensive exhibition schedule.  http://cheekludtricketts.com/
